Education

Environmental education is any kind of teaching about how natural environments function and how human beings can manage their behaviour and ecosystems in order to live sustainably. The term can refer to education within formal school and university systems. However, it is also used more broadly to include all efforts to educate the public and other audiences, including print materials, websites, media campaigns and the like.

At its heart is the idea which transports the participant from nature appreciation and awareness to education for an ecologically sustainable future. Environmental education programs often seek to first engage with participants through developing an understanding of nature which is then translated into actions that affect conservation and sustainability.
